Romanshorn

We stopped on the way from France to Austria in a Swiss town called Romanshorn. This is my lunch, it was smokey and salty and good. The waitress didn't know the English word but said the smoked fish was 'Felchen' and that it was a lake fish. Rosenhorn is by a huge lake called Lake Constance. Thats my mum stealing some fish on the left.

I want to see more of Switzerland, I was only there for a couple of hours.

Brittany: Fruits de Mer

This is where I ate dinner (the place on the far right)...

...and this is what I ate. Have you ever seen anything like it?

In France, you have to work for your food. They give you a nutcracker and you get your hands really dirty trying to break into all those thick hard shells to find food within.

The best was the crab, but you have to be careful because they leave its weird grey mushy brain bits in and they are just lurking there if your not careful. The crabs arms and legs are the safest bet.

Barcelona: Return to Mercat de la Boqueria

I just had to go back to the Boqueria market on my last day, I loved it there and wanted to take more pictures (and buy more fruit and eat fish). These are the photos I took, this time trying to capture the people that worked in the market a little more closely. My favourite shot is of the woman gutting squid (that looks like what she's doing, I'm not toally sure).

The guy in the last photo was muy angry about something and was shouting and gesticulating at the girl working at the fruit stall, who was mainly ignoring him, as was his wife who just stood there staring blankly at the fruit.

Barcelona: Mercat de Sant Antoni

I visited Mercat de Sant Antoni on the morning of my last day. It was much quieter than Mercat de la Boqueria, far fewer tourists, it was cheaper, and it felt like all local people there who were a little surprised that anyone was taking pictures.

Barcelona: Mercat de la Boqueria

This was where I visited first thing on Saturday morning. It was one of the best things about Barcelona, and is one of the most stunning food markets I have ever been to. It is pulsing with life, colourful, busy, bright, the smell of fresh fish is everywhere, people shouting in Spanish and Catalan, women hacking at great fish carcasses, still live shellfish trying to escape from their captors... I was overwhelmed and very envious of my friends who took me there - they only live a few blocks from the market.
