<p>
I've made this decision because I already have an <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Anna-Higgie-Illustration/304038545521?ref=hl">Anna Higgie Illustration Facebook</a> page, and an <a href="http://instagram.com/annahiggie">Instagram</a> account with both personal photos and pictures of my studio and my work. Therefore, I don't really see the need for a blog anymore! I might come back here and start posting again sometime, but I need to figure out the best use of the format...
<p>
So it's bye for now, but for updates on what I'm up to, please check my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Anna-Higgie-Illustration/304038545521?ref=hl">Facebook</a> & <a href="http://instagram.com/annahiggie">Instagram</a>!

<p>
This is a series of portraits I've just completed for the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, which is Italian for the National Institute of Italian Fashion. All of the illustrations were seen alongside interviews published online on the <a href="http://www.cameramoda.it/en/">Camera Moda website</a>.
<p>

<p>
<b>Interview from Camera Moda with Dean and Dan Caten, of Dsquared:</b>
<p>
"A mix of formal and streetwear that’s winning over the younger generation. Headquarters in Via Ceresio with a new top floor panoramic restaurant. For twins Dean and Dan Caten, designers of DSquared2, fashion is the reflection of a cosmopolitan spirit, a melting pot of knowledge and creativity transcending boundaries. Just like them: born in Canada, living in London, made in Italy. Just a few hours before their runway show tomorrow at 9.30 am, we interviewed them exclusively for our website."
<p>
<i>What is a fashion designer today? Your personal definition.</i>
<p>
A fashion designer is a person who knows how to keep ahead of the trends, who can see the signs and knows in advance what will be cool in a few months. Today, being a fashion designer means so many things, even knowing how to have fun with styling.
<p>
<i>Working as a duo and consolidating a creative vision. Do you ever disagree? How do you split up your roles?</i>
<p>
We are more than a duo: we are identical twins and this definitely helps us in our professional life. The creative process is never interrupted. Sometimes we disagree but when something doesn’t convince either of us, we prefer to find an alternative solution.
<p>
<i>Of the social networks, which one do you think has the most potential for growth?</i>
<p>
We’re very active on social networks, we have a Facebook profile and we are constantly tweeting. Our fans like to follow us even in our private lives. Out of the social media, maybe the one with the most potential for growth at the moment is Instagram because it communicates through images. It’s a similar language to ours and is easy and immediate.
<p>
<i>Ceresio 7 looks out over the skyscrapers of new Milan. In the geography of the city, which areas are the most interesting at the moment?</i>
<p>
One of the most interesting areas now is definitely Porta Nuova. The buildings of new Milan have changed the skyline of the city making it more interesting. With the restoration of the former Enel building and the opening of Ceresio 7, we also feel that we have contributed to the revival of this area rich in history and tradition.
<p>
<i>What would you like to see in the future of fashion, and Italian fashion?</i>
<p>
We expect to see a great deal, especially from the younger generation. To our youngest contributors, we always say: The sky’s the limit! Believe in your dreams and you will achieve them.

<p>
<a href="http://www.cameramoda.it/en/associazione/news/1386/"><b>Interview from Camera Moda with Angela Missoni:</b></a>
<p>
"Patchwork and colour patterns, ethnic designs e art-déco abstract features. All so beautiful that they end up in the permanent collection at the MoMA in New York. Missoni knitwear is a style known and used as a reference worldwide. And Angela who's been the brand's creative director since 1996, captured its legacy with passion and innovative talent."
<p>
<i>Genuine beauty interprets the spirit of the time. Is this a definition that you share?</i>
<p>
The formal, aesthetic concept of silent beauty in accordance with the spirit of the time. I do not think therefore that that’s beauty instead, I rather see it as a quality that is intrinsically linked to the essence of being, to its own spirit, intelligence and personality. Real beauty therefore goes beyond ages, while beauty associated with the outward appearance or the exterior can have a reference to time.
<p>
<i>Where does your inspiration come from?</i>
<p>
Inspiration is simply unpredictable: it is an experience or a memory that come back, a film, a photograph or a work of art, an image, a sound or a shade, a trip or a vista. It is a chain of suggestions, an unpredictable re-design of creative imagination and / or unusual approach of what is known. The mosaic of images that make up the board of a fashion designer mirrors his or her mental process after all, the process of his or her associations is often not linear.
<p>
<i>Major brands have signed collections for important low-cost chains. How do you view these partnerships?</i>
<p>
Positive as they confer emphasis to the brand; I think they are excellent means of communication and transmission of fashion.
<p>
<i>Being a woman in a business world. Are there still stereotypes and challenges?</i>
<p>
Stereotypes sadly persist and there are still many challenges to face, but women seem determined and project themselves into the future and of course, especially over the last forty years, have stated their talent and consolidated their power in the business world. I believe, however, that nothing must be taken for granted so better information is crucial to raise awareness. It is still desirable that new laws are made and enforced to protect women’s rights in life and at work.
<p>
<i>What would you like to see in the future of fashion, and Italian fashion in particular?</i>
<p>
Cohesion, a community of intent, complicity. More space to the ideas and initiatives put forward by the new generations. More initiatives and structures that make the interaction, consultation, study of the fashion world possible; we need a much more complex and detailed system than what you one imagines from the outside, which should share andbequeath the younger with a wealth of experience and expertise.

<p>
"Whether on the edge of a curb outside Lincoln Center as the brightly accessorized masses traverse the crosswalks, or sitting front row snapping only the looks that interest him — during Fashion Week, the New York Times' veteran photographer, <a href="http://nymag.com/thecut/2013/02/bill-cunninghams-big-gay-heart.html">Bill Cunningham</a>, appears to be everywhere all at once. In fact, he is so much a part of the landscape, that it just wouldn't feel like Fashion Week without his signature blue painter's smock and ancient SLR camera. So this season, to honor of the man who started this whole street-snapping craze, the Cut asked eight illustrators to draw this style legend in action."

<p>
"Because we all get dressed for Bill."
<br>- Anna Wintour
<p>
In January the New York magazine asked me to create a portrait of the wonderful and charming Bill Cunningham, street fashion photographer extraordinaire. I was so thrilled to have the opportunity - I am such a fan of the man, ever since watching <a href="http://www.zeitgeistfilms.com/billcunninghamnewyork/">this superb documentary</a> about the work he does on the streets of New York City daily, since he was a young man in 1960s.
<p>
I used graphite and a protractor to draw Bill's portrait, and used a Pentel ink pen to draw the people all around him. I then scanned the drawing and applied colour using a Wacom pen and Photoshop.

<p>
Over the last year or so I have been working on an ongoing project with Lisa Comfort, owner of <a href="http://sewoverit.co.uk/">SEW OVER IT</a>, 'a lovely sewing cafe in Clapham, London'.
<p>
Lisa's Story:<br>
"Despite being teased for my “uncool” hobby, I persevered and carried on sewing. After studying at the London College of Fashion I worked for British designer Bruce Oldfield and then bridal couture designer Phillipa Lepley.
I set up Sew Over It in a response to the growing feeling that sewing was becoming a lost skill. I hope that I can pass on my passion for sewing through Sew Over It and encourage more people in London to pick up a needle and thread!
<br>
Since opening Lisa has published her first book, Sew It, Wear It, Love It – an intro to sewing for beginners. She has also appeared on the Alan Titchmarsh Show and Kirstie’s Vintage Home. And finally, she was shortlisted in Red’s Hot Women Awards in the Woman to Watch category."
<br>
"I have created a sewing paradise for all of you to enjoy. Take classes, get advice, get inspiration, make friends, drop into take a look, browse the classes page. Tea and cake have always played an important role in my sewing projects so I have married the two and created a sewing café where you can work on your projects whilst munching on some cake and drinking tea!"
<p>
The project is ongoing but I thought it was about time I did a blog post about it to show the work I've done so far.
<br>
So far I have created four illustrations for the covers of the dressmaking kits. They are all in a vintage 50s/60s style, inspired by old Vogue sewing kits from that era. I've also designed the packaginf for all the sewing kits, and made illustrations for the boxes of Tie and Knicker making kits. Scroll down to see all the various bits and bobs....

<p>
An illustration I created recently for German political magazine <a href="http://www.cicero.de/">Cicero</a>.
<br>The brief was to create a portrait of the politician Horst Seehofer as a 'supercilious king of bavaria'. Unfortunately this one won't get printed, due to a last minute decision, but it was fun to make and I'm happy with it anyway!
<p>
"Horst Lorenz Seehofer (born 4 July 1949) is a German politician (CSU). He served as the Federal Minister for Health and Social Security from 1992 to 1998 and as the Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection in the cabinet of Angela Merkel from 2005 to 2008. In October 2008 he became chairman of the CSU and Minister-President of Bavaria." (from Wikipedia)

<p>
This is an editorial illustration I completed a few weeks ago for <a href="http://www.essence.com/" target="_blank">Essence</a> magazine in the USA.
<p>
"ESSENCE is the premiere lifestyle, fashion and beauty magazine for African-American women. With its motivating message, intimate girlfriend-to-girlfriend tone, compelling and engaging editorial lineup and vibrant and modern design, ESSENCE is the definitive voice of today's dynamic African-American woman. ESSENCE speaks directly to a Black woman's spirit, her heart and her unique concerns. Every month African-American women rely on ESSENCE for editorial content designed to help them move their lives forward personally, professionally, intellectually and spiritually. Sections such as Work & Wealth, Healthy Living, and Looks We Love cover topics that focus on career and finance, health and lifestyle, and fashion and beauty and share an intimate connection with readers. In 2008, ESSENCE won 12 New York Association of Black Journalists awards in the Investigative, General Feature, International, Business/Technology, Science/Health, Arts & Entertainment, Personal Commentary, Public Affairs and Online categories. The publication has a monthly circulation of 1,050,000 and a readership of 8.5 million. The first issue of ESSENCE hit the newsstands in May 1970, with a circulation of 50,000."
<p>
The illustration I made was for an article written about 'family secrets'. The article explored the story and experience of a woman who grew up without her real father, a man who denied her existence.

<p>
Work in progress shots for my <a href="https://www.acehotel.com/london" target="_blank">ACE</a> hotel London murals! How exciting - the illustrations have been printed out and wheat pasted to the walls of rooms 103 & 104. Now all that remains is for me to come to the hotel in person (this weekend), and add the finishing touches by hand.
<br>
Can't WAIT to come and stay at the gorgeous <a href="https://www.acehotel.com/london" target="_blank">ACE</a>, and lucky for me, it coincides with <a href="http://friezelondon.com/" target="_blank">Frieze</a> weekend! One of my favourite art events of the year...

<p>
These are two illustrations I have created which will become murals for the <a href="http://www.acehotel.com/" target="_blank">ACE Hotel</a> chain, who have just opened a new branch in Shoreditch, London.
<br>
I'll do another blog post in a few weeks once I've installed the murals! Very excited to see them up on the walls...
<p>
"Ace Hotel is a collection of individuals — multiple and inclusive, held together by an affinity for the soulful. We are not here to reinvent the hotel, but to readdress its conventions to keep them fresh, energized, human.
<br>
We accept the hotel as a potential for real, fluid community. We believe that hospitality is compassion, that it is not servility but genuine concern for others' well-being and the ability to live with empathy.
<br>We believe that Mr. Strummer was right when he sang, "If you're after getting the honey, hey — then you don't go killing all the bees," because there is no honey without bees.
<br>And Mr. Blake was right when he said that "Life delights in life," meaning that cultivating joy attracts more joy.
<br>We like the stories that come with things and think that wherever you are, you should feel like you're there.
<br>Always go with the best idea, regardless of where it comes from and be willing to learn from anybody.
<br>Do what's got to be done everyday.
<br>The basic things matter.
<br>Try not to be a jerk.
<br>The truth doesn't always make sense, but it usually feels right.
<br>Try to make something everyday.
<br>The only free will you have is how well you respond to fate, so steel yourself and smile.
<br>Work can be a beautiful thing when done beautifully, and it's a lot more fun done together than apart.
<p>
This, more than anything else, is why people want to sleep with us."

<p>
Knocked up this flyer this week for the fine folks at <a href="http://www.sundownarts.org/">SUNDOWN arts</a> - in their own words "a diverse arts event playing host to live music, spoken word, comedy, short films, DJ’s and any other performance art. It is based in Southend-on-sea but now curates events in London and throughout the UK, including many festivals."
<p>
From the organiser, about this particular event: "Not Very Ladylike features emerging theatre company Old Trunk, with one of their witty, unique plays/sketches. There is also the comedy poet Liz Bentley whose material is pretty edgy. Then the performance artist Caroline Smith, who also does some unique, raw material.
<br>
So the concept is an all-female cast with edgy, unique material that pushes the envelope a little.
<br>
I like the look of fifties style women from those forties and fifties style adverts, where women were supposed to be prim and like a lady but maybe give the flyer a punk rock feel to it. Or a pop art feel."

<p>
This is the 2nd image of three that I have created for the international SHOP series, published by Global Blue. This one was for their Italy issue. The concept was old school glamour - I researched images of Veronica Lake and Grace Kelly, and 1940s fashion imagery. Finally I found a striking image of a 1940s model wearing a dress that really accentuated her small frame. I sketched it out, and then redrew the image several times, adjusting the hair and dress to exaggerate the proportions.

I recently completed this assignment for Chronos FEMME in Japan.
<br>
Chronos Femme is a watch and jewellery magazine for ladies which is published bimonthly. It is a sister magazine of Chronos Japan, a mechanical watch magazine for men cooperated with Chronos Germany. Chronos FEMME is given to the customers interested in luxury watches and jewelry at official watch shops and department stores in Japan.
<br>
The assignment was to draw six ladies wearing one brand watch each, and the brands featured were Rolex, Roger Dubuis, Chaumet, Hermes, Hublot and Omega.

<p>
This is a map I created over the months leading up to this years ever magical, ever wonderful, <a href="http://www.shambalafestival.org/" target="_blank">Shambala</a> festival.
<br>
The map was NOT intended for navigating around the site - it was more intended as a decorative, fun, promotional illustration of all the fantastic things that Shambala has to offer.
The map however was printed in the first page of the festival programme - and this probably led to quite a few people trying to use it to find their way around, and probably getting very lost - not many things were in the right spot! (I was basically just given a list of venues to include, and then more or less place them wherever I wanted.)
<br>But then again, maybe that was the idea - the best times at festivals are often the ones where you end up somewhere you never expected to find...
<br>
It was LONG and challenging process making the map, but it was also a lot of fun, and extremely satisying when I finally finished and got to see and share the end result.
<br>
ps. Where's Wally tip: There's a secret portrait of me and my boy hidden in the map - can you spot us?

Basically, I drew every element separately, and then knitted it all together and added colour in Photoshopo. This meant I could move everything around and play with different colours, sizes, and compositions along the way.
<br>
I felt that if I'd tried to do everything on one piece of paper, it would have been a lot harder to change things, and it would also have been very difficult for me to scan well. Here are some examples of individual elements that eventually all got married all together into one big final piece:

Here are some other maps made for festivals that I had a look at when researching the map and figuring out how the hell I was going to tackle this project (having never made a map before in my life - quite a daunting task at first):
<p>

OTHER MAPS I LIKE:

INSPIRATION FROM OTHER ARTISTS...
</center>
<P>
The incredible <a href="http://www.heartagency.com/artist/MarcBoutavant/gallery/1" target="_blank">Marc Boutavant</a>, one of my favourite illustrators, was a big inspiration when it came to creating the characters in the map, which is something I haven't done very much before.
<br>
I was also looking at characters created by Moomins creator <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tove_Jansson" target="_blank">Tove Jansson</a> (and the treehouse - see below - is pretty much copied from a treehouse in one of my all time favourite books, <a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Who-Will-Comfort-Toffle-Moomin/dp/0953522792" target="_blank">Who Will Comfort Toffle</a> - a must have for children of all ages, and adults too)
<br>
A lot of inspiration in terms of general composition and character design also came from fellow Jamaica Street superstar illustrator <a href="http://www.bjornlie.com/" target="_blank">Bjorn Rune-Lie</a> (who was a big inspiration when it came to drawing the stylised trees in the forest as well, I must admit):

<p>
This is an illustration I created in July for <a href="http://www.globalblue.com/">SHOP</a> Copenhagen.
<br>
The Copenhagen issue was released to coincide with Copenhagen fashion week. Brands who showed at CFW feature in the issue, and one of the running themes is 'daring Danish design', bold design with a quirky but still very elegant edge very much influenced by the 1960s.
<br>
The editor wanted 'a straight on portrait of a figure surrounded by a big fluffy roll-neck jumper - very 60s esq - really exaggerated as though the jumper is going all up around her face, her head almost filling the frame, big hair coming over the jumper and filling in the frame above. Really bold, a bit quirky but also looking really sophisticated. Her hands could be holding the jumper fabric as though holding it up around her face a bit, enjoying the fabric.
<br>
Colour wise, we'd love to include hits of colours from the buildings in the Nyhavn area which are very iconic to Copenhagen.'

<p>
This is an illustration I created of British film maker Danny Boyle, for the most recent edition of <a href="http://www.townmagazine.co.uk/towndaily/">TOWN</a>, a London based magazine which 'celebrates and curates the best of London life each season, covering everything from fashion, style, arts and culture to events, openings, food and drink.'
<p>
I created the image using traditional drawing using ink and pencils, and then I scanned it into the computer and tinkered with the colours...
<p>
For issue 5, published for Summer 2013, Town 'turns pastoral, with stunning photographs of the city’s waterways by Venetia Dearden, a feature on Londoners who’ve brought their country pursuits to the city, and a selection of the very best products that are Made in London. Plus Danny Boyle, Harvey Keitel, Cornelia Parker and Guy Chambers.'
<p>
Danny Boyle is an English film director, producer, screenwriter and theatre director, best known for his work on films such as Slumdog Millionaire, Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later, 127 Hours and Trainspotting.
<br>
The Town magazine article was timed to coincide with the much anticipated new film by Boyle, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1924429/">Trance</a>, which follows the story of 'an art auctioneer who has become mixed up with a group of criminals who partners with a hypnotherapist in order to recover a lost painting.'

<p>
A few weeks ago I completed the illustration for the cover of 'The Occult - A Novel in Five Stories', published by <a href="http://www.penguinbooksindia.com/en">Penguin Classics India</a>.
<p>
From the publisher:
<p>
"Five long stories form the first collection published by the greatest living Urdu short story writer Naiyer Masud. These beautiful and bizarre stories have no perceptible beginnings, plots or endings. The narrator is a young man who has left behind his home and family for mysterious reasons (he may or may not be responsible for a girl’s death) and wanders from place to place forming strange connections.
<br>
The stories follow the logic of dreams and are set in dreamscapes. The architecture (of the stories and the geographies in which they are set) is both fluid and precise, as in a dream. Together the stories are ‘inter-textured, rich in suggestion and allusions that unfurl subtly but necessarily underneath the seeming disconnectedness of the stories, giving them an overpowering sense of an undefined existential unity.’"
<p>
Here is what Wikipedia has to say about Naiyer Masud:
<p>
"Naiyer Masud is one of the foremost short story writers in Urdu. He was born in Lucknow in 1936 and has spent nearly all his life there, working until his retirement as a Professor of Persian in Lucknow University. He is the author of many scholarly books and translations (notably of Kafka), but is best known for his short stories, collected in the volumes Ganjifa, Simiya, Itr-e-kaafoor, and Taoos Chaman Ki Myna. For the last, he was awarded the 2001 Urdu prize of the Sahitya Akademi and the Saraswati Samman in 2007. He also received the honor of being the subject of the 1997 entire issue of the Annual of Urdu Studies. A large selection of his stories have been translated into English by M.U. Memon in the volumes The Snake Catcher and Essence of Camphor. Masud is the son of Syed Hasan Masud Rizvi Adeeb, also a Lucknow University Professor of Persian and a famed scholar of dastaan, and the brother of the noted satirist Azhar Masud."

<p>
I was in a part of the jungle where green vines were spread out over the tree trunks and the ground. These vines had large, dark green leaves with light green protruding veins and they were so succulent that when they were bent they snapped in the middle, releasing jets of water. And, in fact, the atmosphere there was suffused with exceedingly fine sprays of water. In short, that area of the jungle was completely different from the places where the presence of snakes might be suspected. But it was precisely here that the thought of snakes occurred to me and I began to imagine their presence near every moving leaf, so much so that it became difficult for me to press ahead. I stood there surrounded by a sea of green vines. The movement of their leaves resembled the rise and fall of waves, and the objects below them, which seemed to be crawling toward me, made it difficult even to stand.

<p>
I scanned the area for a clearing but there were green vines around me and it was impossible to tell where the terrain rose and fell beneath their large succulent leaves. That the terrain was uneven was beyond a doubt. I remembered how several times, as I trudged forward, I had been plunged up to my waist in leaves and, wading through these leaves with my hands, I had to climb up a slope. That is to say, the sensation of wading through the leaves was still fresh on my hands. At that moment I stood rooted to the ground, finding it difficult even to budge. Suddenly something stirred close to my feet and, without determining its direction, I moved. I stepped on something which was alive and which became even more alive. I felt a sort of prick on my foot. There was a movement in the leaves and a hood rose from beneath them. For a brief second I saw tiny eyes staring at me and then I heard what sounded like someone sighing nearby. Meanwhile, the hood dived under the leaves. The leaves swayed and I saw a long, slithering body retreat. The leaves churned violently and continued being churned up for some ways into the distance.

<p>
For some distance I looked around at the jungle with interest. Then I was reminded of the curios neatly arranged in the outer reception room of my house. I couldn’t remember exactly what those curios were so I tried hard to recall each and every one of them. One was a lion made of some kind of metal. It stood on its hind legs with its mouth wide open as though it were roaring. Its eyes were crafted from some precious stone and they had disappeared several generations before me. Yet the lion’s only importance lay in its missing eyes. Close by the lion, but larger than it, was a horse molded from some reddish-brown material with a rider of the same material mounted on it. One of the rider’s hands was poised in the manner of someone wielding a sword, but the hand was empty. The sword of that empty hand was sorely missed, but an elder of the family used to say that the rider had, in fact, held a scale, not a sword, in that hand. In my own time, mostly due to my own carelessness, the upper half of the rider’s body had also broken off and a clever artisan had been commissioned to put it back together. I remember that when the upper half came off, it revealed that the inside material was of a rather dark red color and it gave off a strange scent which conjured up memories of old things when it was inhaled. On the wall across from the lion and the rider hung a crab fashioned from numerous tiny chips of animal horn. The pieces had been put together in such a way that the slightest touch made the entire crab wobble and appear as if it were crawling along the wall. I hated this crab; sometimes I even feared it. It was a specimen of a craft practiced by some lost tribe whose name I could never remember. The curios in the reception room also included a miniature palace built from tiny stone bricks of different colors. It was a complete palace with arches, columns, turrets, etc. The turrets, especially, were exceedingly beautiful and guests often marveled at the delicate workmanship of their ornamental serratures. It used to be said about this palace that at some point in time there really was a full-scale likeness of it, the ruins of which could still be seen, and that the miniature had been made to serve as a model for the actual palace.

At this year's <a href="http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/">Glastonbury Festival</a> I was lucky enough to have been part of the amazing team (aka. TEAM LOVE) that brought you the WOW Stage in Silver Hayes.
<br>
This year the WOW Stage was transformed into a psychedelic ocean liner, featuring daily boat parties aboard (well, in front of) the HMS WOW.
<p>
I worked with two of the <a href="http://hotsouphouse.blogspot.co.uk/">Hot Soup House</a> designers - Russell Henry and Laurence Hassan on the design for the boat. Russell basically designed the structure of the boat facade we built, Laurence designed the 'Love Deep Like the Sea' lettering, and I designed and painted the mural of swirly, psychedelic, colourful shapes that decorate the white surface of the boat.
<p>
Being part of the WOW Stage team for the first time was such a great experience, and I cannot wait for Glastonbury 2014!!
<p>
From <a href="http://www.theransomnote.co.uk/">The Ransom Note</a> website:
<br>"Glastonbury Dance Village’s ‘WOW’ Stage traces its history back to 2008 when Dave Harvey and Tom Paine founded Team Love to programme the Igloo Tent. It was the first all-night venue in Dance Village with acts like Don Letts, Tayo and Metronomy."
<p>
Here's what Futureboogie's <a href="https://soundcloud.com/el-harvo-futureboogie">Dave Harvey</a> has to say about the WOW:
<br>
"I think The Wow provides a counterbalance to the more established acts on East and West. We really try to pick up on artists who are coming up, pick them out early and get them involved – and again this year we’ve been really lucky to do so with lots of acts like Julio Bashmore, Space Dimension Controller, Lone, Floating Points, Funkineven, Fatima, Maya Jane Coles, Subb-an, Hyetal who have really come into their own in the last few months and our stage is probably the best place for them to be at the festival."

Love Saves The Day was a dance and electronic music festival that took place on Saturday the 25th of May 2013 in Castle Park, Bristol. The organisers asked me, and several other local artists in Bristol, to create unique 'Love Boxes', which would be placed around the site as decor.
<br>
The box was made up of 6 panels of 8 ft by 4 ft ply, which I put together into a triangle box shape. Scroll down to see some of the design process, and some shots of work in progress in my studio...

If you couldn't make it down to Open Studios at Jamaica Street over the weekend, here's a little sample of what you missed!
<br>
My space is the one above, the others I've snapped below are: Hannah McVicar, Christopher Wright, Cedric Barada, Anouk Mercier, Oivind Hovland, Vera Boele-Keimer, Abigail Reed, Janie George, Rose Vickers & Bjorn Rune Lie. There are many others in the building, this is just a small selection (mostly from the 3rd floor where I have my space).

My illustration of <a href="http://cargocollective.com/annahiggie/Flying-Lotus-BONAFIDE-magazine" target="_blank">Flying Lotus</a> is featured in this month's <a href="http://www.mediaclash.co.uk/magazines" target="_blank">Clifton Life magazine</a>, to promote this year's <a href="http://www.jamaicastreetartists.co.uk/" target="_blank">Jamaica Street Artist's Open Studios</a>, which is being held over the weekend of the 5th of July.
<br>
If you're in Bristol, be sure to come and check out my space, along with all the other artists in the building who offer the public a chance to sticky beak round their spaces once a year.
<br>
This years open studios coincides with Bristol's annual <a href="http://www.stpaulscarnival.co.uk/" target="_blank">St Pauls Carnival</a>, so it should be a great weekend!
