Barcelona: Beach

We went to the beach. It was hot. We all drowned ourselves in sunlight and felt drunk and dizzy all afternoon from the heat and the saltwater.

I got burnt, but its okay because now I am a lovely camel colour.

Barcelona: Breakfast

Barcelona: Mercat de la Boqueria

This was where I visited first thing on Saturday morning. It was one of the best things about Barcelona, and is one of the most stunning food markets I have ever been to. It is pulsing with life, colourful, busy, bright, the smell of fresh fish is everywhere, people shouting in Spanish and Catalan, women hacking at great fish carcasses, still live shellfish trying to escape from their captors... I was overwhelmed and very envious of my friends who took me there - they only live a few blocks from the market.

Monday Evening

Last night the rain finally subsided for a few hours and the sky was beautiful, glowing pink and purple and blue as the sun set.

We stayed in after the sun set and watched the Fugitive.

I got so distracted reading this blog this morning that I burnt my toast. (I make dry fry toast on the hob - I still haven't bought a toaster!)

Illustration: Vienna

Vienna - final version

This illustration was done on the subject of Vienna. The church growing out of the girls hair is the Stephansdom in the heart of the city. I grew up in Vienna, it is one of my favourite places in Europe.

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi

We have had some crazy weather over the last few days. I took these pictures out of the windows of my flat. The cloud in the last picture looks like a UFO!

Tonight I watched Rushmore (again). It is one of my favourite films of all time.

Sic Transit Gloria Mundi.

A walk around London

This is Anthony Gormley's sculpture on Trafalgar Square.

This is a really excellent bookshop on St Martin's Lane, full of rare books and magazines.

All the above are some pictures I took while I was walking around London last Sunday. It was a glorious summer day and the light was bright and dazzling.

Sunday dinner cooked by Mum

Mum made an amazing dinner on Sunday night with about five different salads and a huge baked trout.

My favourite is the carrot, garlic, lemon juice and pine nut salad. She got it from the best recipe book in the world called Living and Eating. We call it the Good Book.

A trip to the British Museum

On Sunday I walked from my parents house up to the British Museum, where I marvelled at all the great plunders of the British Empire.

My parent's flat in London

my mum spins her own wool...

...and she makes amazing patchworks out of all our old clothes...

...and my dad goes mudlarking and finds things like this ancient toothpaste box.

Saturday in London

I went up to London to visit my parents this weekend. On Saturday I took a nice walk around Soho, ate some Sushi, looked in some shops with my sister, explored the streets and found a beautiful old map....

It was my first day out properly shooting with the new camera, and it was fun! But I have so much to learn, there are so many options and settings that I don't really understand yet. I think its going to take some time to become really confident. This website is helping me so far.
